This Month's Selection

March: In the Dream House

"In the Dream House" by Carmen Maria Machado is a memoir that details the author's experience of an emotionally and physically abusive relationship with another woman, referred to only as "the woman in the dream house," while attending graduate school; the book explores the often unspoken realities of abuse within queer relationships, utilizing a unique narrative style that incorporates different literary tropes throughout the story, with Machado frequently addressing the reader as "you" to draw them into the experience of the abuse.
